Code of Conduct

In this context of ethical business practices, the region is governed by a Code of Conduct and a system known as Bridgestone Americas Compliance Center (BACC). This system provides the base so that all decisions and activities are implemented with integrity, adhering at all times to the internal values, policies and regulations; as well as complying with all legislations applicable to its operations.

Bridgestone Latin America North BS-LAN Crisis Committee


In order to provide a response plan in situations critical to the operations, the region has established a Crisis Committee with the tools necessary to respond to any crisis quickly, efficiently and in a structured manner.

The plan has been designed by the Bridgestone Americas in United States, to exhaustively cover situations that:

  • Require actions by the national leaders of the country affected in order to solve the problems that may have an impact of human health, safety, the environment or assets and the reputation of the operations, both of Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (BSA) and all Bridgestone's operations in Latin America (BATO-LA).
  • Require actions by the organizations of the country affected with the support and leadership of the BATO-LA central office or the other businesses of the Company that operate in the company, as necessary.

In addition to the Crisis Committee, Bridgestone Latin America North has also set up Emergency Committees in each area of the region and trained their members, as well as conducting crisis drills.

Having a crisis management program that covers the entire Company is important because it shows the difference between issues that should be addressed by the corporate organization and others in which the region has the authority and responsibility to act and communicate.

Economic Outlook in 2015 and Challenges for 2016


Although 2015 was a volatile year economically and brought as a consequence significant devaluations of most of the currencies in the region, it was also a year of the adoption of counter-measures that allowed Bridgestone to strengthen internally.

Such reinforcement consisted of developing strategies necessary to achieve the Operating Profit and Market Share objectives. The result of the strategic steps for the Operating Profit and our market share exceeded those of prior years. It was possible thanks to Bridgestone's human capital, which is the company's differentiating factor over its competitors.

Moreover, 2016 is forecast to be a year characterized by exchange rate uncertainly and volatility. Technological advances, regulatory changes, the need for environmental sustainability, the race to create autonomous vehicles, changes in world demographics and shifts in the behavior of society are variables that have to be considered in our business sustainability.

Bridgestone has decided to face these challenges by recognizing customers and the search for their satisfaction by anticipating their needs and demands as a central part of its business.

Faced with the increase in the demand for goods all over the world and the threat of the exhaustion of raw materials, the company has detected a need to establish a circular economy in which there is a clear pro-ecological posture.

It is vital to offer safer products with more advanced technologies that benefit both society and the environment. An example of these products is the Run Flat technology, particularly in terms of the long-term trend to introduce autonomous vehicles.
