Bridgestone Costa Rica through its environmental management system contributes to the achievement of the SDG 6, Target 6.3: By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.

All water used by Bridgestone Costa Rica is extracted from underground wells. During 2017, consumption stood at 185,851 m3, representing a 0.5% reduction in total consumption, with an 11.3% reduction per unit of weight produced, compared to 2016.

Of the total water consumed, 74,163 m3, equal to 39.9%, went into the municipal drainage system, and its quality complied with all legal parameters since it is subject to an internal wastewater treatment plant that uses a conventional activated sludge system. In addition, 30,901 m3 or 16,5% was recycled and used for irrigation during the dry season.
